PAULINE JOHNSON (March 1861 – 7 March 1913), a celebrated Canadian born First Nations poet/writer's ashes were buried near Siwash Rock in Stanley Park. In 1922 a cairn was erected at the burial site, with an inscription reading in part, "in memory of one whose life and writings were an uplift and a blessing to our nation."
The Lions Gate Bridge, opened in 1938, officially known as the First Narrows Bridge, is a suspension bridge that crosses the first narrows of Burrard Inlet.
