This is a leash-free beach for dogs. Owners are expected to remove droppings as they are when on the leash. We sat and watched the delight of the dogs as they ran into the ocean and retrieved and returned objects thrown by their masters.
Perhaps the easiest recognised flag of any country, it is also known as the Maple Leaf, and was adopted in 1965 to replace the Union Flag, it is the first ever specified by statute law for use as Canada's national flag.

At first glance it appears that these boats are heading out into English Bay. Upon closer inspection, it is apparent they are lying at anchor with their bows pointing into the wind.

The West Vancouver Seawall starts at beautiful Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, across the Lions Gate Bridge, about 20 minutes from downtown. The Seawall runs from the Park to the community of Dundrave. This walk provides extraordinary views of the park, ocean and Lions Gate Bridge. West Vancouver has taken great care in ensuring the Seawall is well maintained, lined with wonderful flora and foliage, and a special fenced path for dogs. As it is literally only a few feet above the ocean waters, there have been several times during its history when huge storms have damaged the walk, sending large logs and other debris up onto the Seawall! But due to its beauty and popularity, it has always been quickly fixed and available for the morning, noon and night regulars.
This old rusty one tonne anchor and chain have been placed under a large granite bolder near the floating display at the Maritime Museum. It reminds me of the old hymn, "Does your anchor hold in the storms of life?"
These colourful racing shells are in storage awaiting another season of competition. In watercraft, a racing shell (also referred to as just a fine boat (UK) or just shell) is an extremely narrow, and often comparatively long, rowing boat specifically designed for racing or exercise.
The great blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America.
In the distance, large freighter are anchored in English bay awaiting to unload their cargo in Vancouver Harbour. Closer, small sailing craft are anchored in the shallow waters outside the shipping channel into False Creek.
To me there is something beautiful about the underside of bridges. This is the Burrard Street Bridge which stretches across the entrance to False Creek.
Located in Vanier Park, close to Vancouver's Maritime Museum, these rusty anchors are a study in rust and slow decay. I love the texture of rusting steel.
Kanzan Cherry is Vancouver's most popular, and numerous Japanese cherry tree species. It usually flowers in mid April to early May about two to three weeks after the Yoshino Cherry. Its blossoms are dark pink and consist of over twenty petals each.
