Holy Trinity Doncaster Anglican Church
This shot shows the old stone church in the foreground, opened in 1869 with the 1971 extension beyond the Balfrey. The expanded building is an excellent example of creating a modern space for worship which sensitively adapts the design signature of the past to meet contemporary needs.
A church is not a building. Each Sunday at HTD, seven congregations meet to worship and learn. Services are intended to meet the various demographic and linguistic needs of the parish. Some services are conducted in English and others in Mandarin.
This is the third congregation meeting at HTD each Sunday and conducted in English. There is a Mandarine congregation the meets at the same time in another meeting hall. The style of the 10:30 English service is family-focused and relaxed.

This is the main entrance to the church buildings. The stone building to the left is the original church. To the right are the admin facilities and beyond various meeting rooms used extensively by HTD members.
Singers and musicians lead the congregation is offering vocal praise.
There are many indications of a healthy church. Not the least of these is well attendied worship services. This photo shows the 9:00am congregation were the service is 'comfortably full' yet there is room for more.
Congregation members who prefer a more traditional style of worship attend the 9:00am service. Hymns are sung accompanied by an organ.
Singing and praying together as a congregation are regular components of worship at HTD. Christians find strength and comfort by being active participants in each worship service.
Sunday Services feature a 'Bible talk' by a member of the pastoral staff. God's Word taught is a central component to every worship service.
An integral part of every service, prayer is both participatory and led.
From newly born to people in their mid nineties, HTD meets the needs of people for their entire lives.
Anglicans have long consider the Lord's Supper (Eucharist) to be a highly important part of worship.
Church members distribute the bread and wine, symbolic of Christ's body and shed blood.
