    This shot shows the old stone church in the foreground, opened in 1869 with the 1971 extension beyond the Balfrey. The expanded building is an excellent example of creating a modern space for worship which sensitively adapts the design signature of the past to meet contemporary needs.

  • A church is not a building. Each Sunday at HTD, seven congregations meet to worship and learn. Services are intended to meet the various demographic and linguistic needs of the parish.  Some services are conducted in English and others in Mandarin.

    This is the third congregation meeting at HTD each Sunday and conducted in English. There is a Mandarine congregation the meets at the same time in another meeting hall. The style of the 10:30 English service is family-focused and relaxed.

    This is the main entrance to the church buildings. The stone building to the left is the original church. To the right are the admin facilities and beyond various meeting rooms used extensively by HTD members.

    There are many indications of a healthy church. Not the least of these is well attendied worship services. This photo shows the 9:00am congregation were the service is 'comfortably full' yet there is room for more.
