These two photos were taken with my Samsung cell phone. (I had left my cameras behind, but spotted these appealing evening scenes, so resorted to what was available.)
At this point, Lake Okanagan is about 2 kilometres wide. The far side mountain (Okanagan Mt.) has suffered considerable forest loss due to successive bush fires. Reforestation efforts are underway, but the big concern now is the erosion of the shallow soil base.
Like in much of North America, Canada Geese have become semi-domesticated and no longer follow their traditional migratory routes. Humans provide the ideal habitat for these birds, waterways and food. They seem to have lost their desire to make the long journey to nesting grounds.
