Surrounded by parkland, this small lake is the ideal habitat for waterfowl. Access to the lake is next to impossible as it is surrounded by swamp and tall grass, perfect for snakes.

Preserved Farm Sheds

The Flats was once farmland with sheep, and vegetable gardens. These preserved sheds were apparently moved from adjacent locations and reconstructed in this location.

A slight change in ones point-of-view from the previous photo produces an entirely different picture.

Dead Gum Tree

This photo was taken from a slightly different point-of-view than the previous shot. Here you can easily see the tops of fence posts which indicates the shallow nature of the water.

Banyule Creek Weir #1

This small creek runs into the Plenty River, a tributary of the Yarra River. The weir was constructed to mitigate flooding and erosion.

Dead Gum Tree

The tree is one of three located in the lake. It provides good bird nesting opportunity for many bird species. The death of the tree was likely caused by the flooded lake. The lake was created as part of the flood control in the Yarra Valley. This shot is a long exposure which smooths out the ripples on the lake and blurs the clouds.

This shot is from a low level near the stream surface. Each of the three photos presents a different view of the falls and surrounds but all capture the tranquility of the space. The only thing missing is the sounds of song birds and falling water.
