St. Kilda Pier ~ April
St Kilda is Melbourne's favorite beach. The long pier with a kiosk and marina at the end is a favourite spot for photographers. The preferred time of day for taking photos, is the evening 'golden hour', but these shots were taken mid afternoon.
There are endless lookouts to choose around the pier where you stop and linger, take it all in and observe the scenery or watch visitors interact with the surrounds. Whether you are simply out for a stroll, fishing or taking photos, time quickly passes. I intend to stay by the water’s edge for only a few minutes, but an hour passes easily.

St. Kilda Pier
St Kilda Pier's history dates back to 1853 when the St Kilda Pier and Jetty Company constructed a wooden jetty to assist the early settlers in unloading timber, building materials and firewood to St Kilda. Not long after its construction the small jetty fell victim to a stormy Port Phillip Bay and was washed away. The colonial government built a new pier, which was by 1859, controlled by the St Kilda Council.
The historic St Kilda Pier Kiosk was built in 1904 and has undergone several renovations in its time.
