St. Kilda Pier ~ April
St Kilda is Melbourne's favorite beach. The long pier with a kiosk and marina at the end is a favourite spot for photographers. The preferred time of day for taking photos, is the evening 'golden hour', but these shots were taken mid afternoon.
There are endless lookouts to choose around the pier where you stop and linger, take it all in and observe the scenery or watch visitors interact with the surrounds. Whether you are simply out for a stroll, fishing or taking photos, time quickly passes. I intend to stay by the water’s edge for only a few minutes, but an hour passes easily.

St Kilda Marina
This collection of yachts lie sheltered behind a long rock breakwater. This is a long exposure shot which appears to still the water. The boats are Couta Boats with a broad beam and mast well forward. Historically these small craft were used as freight carrying vessels, fishing boats and mail delivery. They are remarkably seaworth and very fast.
