William Ricketts Sanctuary ~ October
Hidden away in a dense inlet along the winding Mt Dandenong Tourist Road is the internationally renowned William Ricketts Sanctuary. With over 90 different sculptures depicting the Aboriginal people engaging the earth in a pure forest setting, they are carved into rocks and tree trunks that dot the paths that flow throughout the property.

This statue is located in a rough timber housing which depicts aboriginal dwellings prior to the influence of Europeans. The back-ground image depicts one of many self-portrait of William Ricketts in the sanctuary, apparently a rather idealised image which shows him as a rather "Adonis-like" characterisation.
